first day of school 2011

First day of school. Kids got up extra early, got ready, I even fixed a hot breakfast full of protein. Yeah me! We have a new bus driver this year so maybe the kids won't always be the last ones to school.
Claire thought since it was her first day of 3rd grade we should do something fun. So, she and Jude stayed in their footed pj's and we did school with fun stuff thrown in. Like playing outside in said pj's. it was chilly!
checking on the kitties in their new cardboard house made by the girls.
mowing the lawn, still in pj's. notice I was in the house watching out the window.
we made a tent in the living room.
we went to target after lunch and got home before the bus came.
Emilee said the first day was boring. She was not too sure about the 4 minutes between classes thing and you get docked if you show up without something you need. She's timing things very closely. thankfully half of her classes are in a homeroom class and she doesn't have to worry about that, except they can't store thier books in class because 2 classes use that room. Lots of lists were made last night to make sure all the correct stuff is brought to each class. David is an old pro and was just glad to see his friends and complain about the same people he couldn't stand last year. We are working on "just letting it go" this year. William was excited with his career center classes. he has a state of the art laptop and a desk top to work with. the mouse goes to both computers depending on where he scrolls and he can drag things from one screen to the other. Very cool.
The second day will go more smoothly for all of us, I'm sure. We are going to the library this morning. it's the only day it's open early. I offered to pick the kids up from school since I don't have a napper any more, but they all said it really wasn't that bad, so I guess I won't!
