drawstring backpacks

Jude asked for a red one. I changed out the thick denim straps and used a recycled drawstring cord to close the bag and attached the straps to the top of the bag.
David used his old drawstring bag every day until he couldn't duct tape it any more. he requested a double layer bag so he could have some pockets. It's been so long since I sewed, I made lots of mistakes, but the end product was one that he really liked. I put a zipper pocket on one side and on open top pocket on the other. i added some elastic to help keep it a little closed.

This is Claire's bag. Hers was the most fun. I took lots of pictures so I could make a powerpoint tutorial for my final project in my class. The top material is cats and it has silver thread in it. the flower I made with some chiffon I cut in circles and singed the edges with a candle to make it ruffle up. I did add a pink button to the center after I took pictures.
