We went and picked blueberries today. if I were a blogger I would have tons of cute pictures of the kids picking, eating, and enjoying the experience. Since I decided not to take my camera, no such pictures exist . It wouldn't have played out that way anyway. We did have fun, but half the time 2 of the kids were asking "are we done yet?" we got 7.75 lbs. (in 2 hours, yes, 2. no I can't believe it either) they are $1 a lb on Wednesdays. the field is so huge, you can't see the edges really. and you can wander anywhere and pick. that does make finding a good picking spot iffy. We are having blueberry pie tonight. Kids just had blue berry frozen yogurt. I had gotten an ice cream freezer at aldi last week. the base goes in the freezer so you don't need any ice. it only makes one quart but that was plenty. I just dumped vanilla yogurt in the mixer and turned it on. when it was done they put blueberries on it. super yum. I have two cookie sheets in the freezer freezing so I can bag them up for this winter. the kids will eat many more of them. I plan to make some muffins. i guess I could freeze those too. the farm has lots of other fruit and I plan to go back after I scout out any other good deals like this $1 a lb thing. My crust should be done chilling in the freezer so I am going to go get it finished.
on a side note, Jon went to Miramar, san diego to the marine base where they filmed Top Gun and actually have the top gun school. he even went to the flight line to deliver whatever it was. he was not happy about going to CA, but this has eased up his displeasure a tad. who am I kidding? he can't believe where he is!
